LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

The Bishop's Glen:  The Bishop's Glen is a favoured beauty spot and a delightful walk and can be entered either from the top of Nelson Street, the bridge at the head of Auchamore Road, or Kilbride Road.

Castle Museum: The Castle House Museum, which has been open since 1998, is one of Dunoon’s most historic locations. Dunoon became a holiday resort when Lord Provost Ewing of Glasgow bought the land around the ruined medieval castle and built himself a holiday home. This was in 1824 and many other wealthy businessmen followed his example.

Highland Mary: On a raised position in the grounds of the Castle Gardens beside the Castle house museum, stands the statue of Highland Mary. Mary Campbell was born at Auchamore Farm, Dunoon, as the daughter of a local ship owner, and became later known for her liaison with famous Scottish poet Robert Burns.

Inveraray Jail: On the shores of Loch Fyne, you can experience how it was like to be locked up in days gone by.

Be judged, imprisoned, punished and make your desperate escape, all in one day.
